Getting outranked by Google Trends Pages

Posted on May 28, 2007 - Filed Under Google News |

Is it possible that Google Trends pages will outrank yours in the future? Is it possible that “trends” pages will be showing up in organic search for everything that is hot? Will Google’s response be that trends pages include everyone because they link out to blogs, news and other resources on the web?

In the previous post I linked a trend page for an outdoor grill and now appear for that phrase (in Trends) BUT guess who is now #1 in organic search? Google! (check it out)

It goes something like this: Google shows a trend, you blog about it, you may appear on the actual trend page but the Google trend page outranks you in organic search, how does this make you feel?

Put your thinking cap on and view the possible future, it has a lot of Google in it, like it or not.

Similar thing is happening with Craigslist. If you make a post with a title that is similar to your web-page, than craigslist post will probably be higher in results than your web-page. This is because most sites in general have relatively low PR’s of all but a homepage, while in CL every single post page has PR probably 4 because their main page is PR8 or 9.

This is true but the Google algorithm should drop back those who can own the entire first page of organic search simply because they have enough PR.

I am testing this out on one of my higher PR sites, so far I see Google and Wikipedia 1 and 2 and my accurate “content” (hate that word) can not be found.

I don’t think its nothing to worry about too much. And if it becomes a promblem then Google will correct it over a time. There is very little short cuts to ranking high for competitive keywords, there are some few instances in which an individual use socialbookmarks to rank high for competitive keywords, but im not sure how reliable that method is.

same goes for ebay… It’s funny, I see myself on the same page in 3 or four different listings 2 on site and 2 for my ebay store… incredible… especially when the ebay store lists higher.
