Linear perspective
Linear perspective is the art of representing three-dimensional constructions on a two-dimensional surface. It presupposes a fixed viewpoint and a desire to create an “objective” recording of one’s visual experience - two conditions which have been the most dominant in the Western art of the past half-millennium.
You know that last post got me thinking about some things about SEO that I never really considered before. There is no doubting the level of favoritism that we all see because it comes in many different ways. It could be a message board post, or it could be a blog comment, it could even be a link.
So I began to think about how occasionally some of the places that I visit pay more attention to others. This is counter productivity at its finest if you ask me. There are a lot of new faces in the SEO world, some for the better, and some for the worse.
When you get to a point when you are “made” and have somewhat of a following and begin playing favorites it is a mistake and I will tell you why.
If you start to favor one crowd over another you are limiting your networking ability to a specific audience and in turn pushing others out of the way that could actually benefit you. If your blogging about SEO it’s a great thing if you have A-Listers commenting on it, but lets not forget that people not in that A-List are what “made” you and they deserve the same consideration. In most cases they are also the majority of your visitors.
OR
When you have people that you normally would not get the opportunity to speak to and ignore them over another just because of who they are, you are going to lose respect AND readership from the people you do not pay attention to (in the case of blogs).
I do not wear my feelings on my sleeve by any stretch of the imagination, but when I see and experience this kind of thing in blogs I shake my head and wonder why this occurs. For me, I am very secure in what I do and know. I do not play favorites.
Just because someone is not “made” does not mean they are not worth the time. The FACT is that not too long ago, Google was cranking out results in a garage and look at them now. I would imagine that a lot of people discounted them and showed more favoritism to well established search engines back then. The same applies to upcoming SEO’s, marketers, or start-ups….
Here is a video that illustrates some of the things that I am trying to point out. I hope you enjoy it.

Love this post, I am a long way from being made but I think it is an excellent attitude to have, I can relate to it in a way, I try to post in all of the diffrent seo forums and read as many different SEO blogs as I can in order to get as many different points of view as possible, just because one guy is made I will not take their word as gospel and just because another guy isn’t I will not disregard the persons point of view.

1) not enough time, so you stick to what you like - and the a-list generally stays on the list because they know how to be interesting enough to be liked
2) getting more ‘quality’ participation - even if it is from radically different perspectives than ours - should be encouraged, so we rely on ‘filters’ that scour the news to present to us.
An example of no.2 is SEW, SEL and SER.
Attention is scarce and far too many bloggers, getting equal attention means that not everyone gets enough attention and the benefits are somewhat lost. So people choose.
In any such environment the good will rise and then naturally protect themselves by strengthening their following (herd). If you want to get to the top (topple them, beat them, match them, whatever), you have to build your own following, your own herd.
What are we doing about this right now? Are you actively finding, reading and linking to one new SEO blog a day?
If you want to be read, then you have to be interesting and you have to attract attention. That’s the way it works best - asking for attention or saying that you deserve it won’t help. And if it doesn’t work the first time, then try again.

Ahmed- I can understand your points as they are valid, but I am not looking for someone to like me. I have friends and family. Also I do not think I am asking for attention, nor implying that I deserve it. I did not say all people are ignoring new people, I said some.
