Nichebot 2

Posted on November 14, 2006 - Filed Under Interviews | 1 Comment

I have been using the Nichebot site to check my rankings in Google for specific keywords for years. I was a little sad to see many features restricted to “members only” so I sent a few emails to Jim Morris and he kindly gave me full access to Nichebot 2.

To understand the difference between Nichebot and the new Nichebot 2 you need to signup. The steps after signup are pretty easy to follow, you watch a series of videos, enter your Google API Key and Tax ID (if you would like to refer people to Nichebot as an affiliate) and you are good to go.

Nichebot 2 can best be described as a keyword research interface. It is nicely integrated into the Firefox browser and all features are linked from one admin panel for easy access.

Nichebot v2 Features:

Keyword Discovery Keywords – Type a keyword or keyword phrase and get back the top 10 keyword listings searched through a pool of over 32 billion keywords from 180 of the top search engines, including Google, Yahoo and MSN and many more of the top search engines.

Wordtracker Keywords – Type a keyword or phrase and get the top 15 WordTracker keyword listings. Get 485 more results at WordTracker.

Overture Keywords – Type a keyword or phrase and get the top 100 Overture keyword listings together with competition results.

WordTracker Thesaurus – Type a keyword or phrase and get the top 100 Overture keyword listings together with competition results.

Deep Digging Tools: (paid with credits)

Keyword Discovery 4-in-1 – Keyword Discovery 4-in-1 premium tool, you can dig deeper and discover the top 1,000 – 10,000 keyword phrases for your primary keyword.

WordTrend Keyword Charts – WordTrend™ Visual Keyword Reports allow you to instantly see a graphical monthly breakdown of search volume for a particular keyword over the course of past 12 months. You can instantly compare niches (the top 10 keywords together) or compare specific keyword trends on the same graph.

(To follow my new form of interview I will pose a question here for Jim Morris and invite him over to answer.)

Question for Jim Morris:

How is Nichebot 2 different than Wordtracker and what is Overtures limits?

Jim’s Answer:

Hey Aaron,

Thanks for the question.

Although I really rather not get into any sort of side-to-side comparisons, every service has its unique advantages and disadvantages.

The fact is… we dig into Wordtracker’s database which is really great for trendy, more recent words. We do not have premium searches for WordTracker, but this could be an eventuality at some time in the future.

But if you want to uncover seasonal words and get deeper into the keywords collected from search engines logs of over 180 search engines, you’ve gotta go to another database which is Keyword Discovery.

We have some powerful sorting features and other tools that some services don’t include, and we can dig down to 10,000 keywords deep.

So again — it’s not that NicheBOT is better than other sites, it’s not that other keyword services are better than other keyword services, it’s just how you intend to use the data and what kind of features you need.

We also have an unlimited storage keyword basket with folders, merging and a two-tiered filing system.

Overture’s limits. They are limited because you don’t know how many times a robot checked a specific keyword which thus inflates the number of search demand at Overture for that keyword. So the problem is that their count should not be relied upon.

Great place to compare — not a great place to count on their count and their keyword placement/order.

I think every service has its own advantages and and disadvantages and it really comes down to what kind of features you want to use and what kind of data you wish to mine in your effort for keyword effectiveness.

But when it comes down to it, it’s what you DO with the data, that more importantly overshadows how you anlayze it and acquired it.

Best,

Jim Morris

It is understood that many SEO’s have their own unique ways of doing keyword research, Nichebot 2 puts it all in one place and allows you to dig a little deeper.

  1. PC Repair Paul Says:

I havent been able to get overture to work properly for me recently, does this website keep its own database from overture searches?

I wish they still had the free nichebot page, as it was quite useful. I dont like the idea of signing up for something when im not sure how good it is.. anyway.. great that you got access, well done.
