Regaining position in Google
Susan Moskwa posted to Google Webmaster Central some useful information for those interested in finding out why they might have lost key positions in organic search and how to regain them.
In short, if you got there by manipulating Google’s algorithms it might be time to offer something real that real live humans will enjoy and link to in a natural way. What a concept eh?
Susan also mentions that they do not punish sites forever as some foolish SEOs claim. In other words, if you clean it up, you will once again climb the relevancy ladder that you artificially manipulated with your link building, hidden text and other weak, short term SEO.
So much for the evil Google picture that the brand assassins paint every day eh?

Welcome Susan, thanks for the relevant information, it should clear up some incorrect beliefs.
In other news buffy is having issue with the thought of creepy spiders in boxes?
Now back to taking a break from blogging. :)

spamming the gray areas of algorithms weaknesses… for example, it used to be easy getting #1 position in Google via “link building”, now (and in future algorithms) earned organic links that are editorially chosen will have more weight.
Do not think that Google does not know what an artificial and organic link neighborhood is. They will pretty much be able to determine “intent” algorithmically in the coming years…
Pretty basic stuff that Matt Cutts and others have been hinting to forever. This advice if followed ensures future success, to continue to follow bad advice from the SEO thought leaders and not try out this stuff is foolish.
