The urge to blog it first
Posted on April 1, 2007 - Filed Under Google News |
What happened on April 1st that caused many popular SEO bloggers to fall for Matt Cutts prank?
The urge to blog it first outweighed their deductive reasoning to read and figure out that it was a prank.
Do you have the urge to blog it first?
These people do:
Matt Cutts Hacked
Funny sad stuff, maybe graywolf is right about the mindless blogging of news.
(I do like that Matt hosed people though, you can not deny his intelligence and good humor)

I’m not so sure people actually believe he got hacked, but wanted to join in the fun.

Initially I fell for it. However I did not have any coffee yet and then realized it was April 1.

Do you agree with my point about this “urge to blog it first”?
Do a blog search for “Matt Cutts Hacked” and see the damage.
Matt is now the KING of linkbaiting eh? ;-o

I agree with that, my first reaction was to cruise the big sites to see if it was real or not.

“I could make a list that fills an entire page.”
I agree, Aaron. I even thought of making a list of blogs that got it wrong, but there were too many A-listers in there I felt the negative karma from posting it would be too strong.

No! I am more of the blog it last type.
No news story is that important to me. Certainly not what Matt Cutts is blogging.
