W.Bloggar is Back

I tried a great interface called W.bloggar to post to my blog a few months back. In fact, I used many and W.bloggar was the only one that impressed me because it is set up like a word processor. Unlike other blog interfaces it does not try to sell you anything (spyware, popups, metrics, certificates to join blog nation, well you get the picture). What saddened me was that W.bloggar stopped functioning and it’s creator seemed to be out of town. I tried emailing him but never got a response. I ended up deleting W.bloggar out of frustration and the post I once made in my blog about W.bloggar as well.

Today Marcelo Cabral emailed me to say that his W.bloggar has been updated and all the bugs have been worked out. This made me extremely happy to see this useful blogging interface come back to life and I appreciate Marcelo emailing folks to let them know.

Instead of me doing a review I will direct your attention to one on Softpedia. In the mean time I will try to get Marcelo in for an chat. Thanks Marcelo, welcome back and BTW this post was done from W.bloggar, how cool is that?

I used to use it as well. When you have several blogs going, it’s an incredible time-saver. I just downloaded the new version, and it will be interesting to see how well it works now. By the way, have you seen any similar tool for Linux? I’m gonna change over to Linux on my main PC shortly.

No I do not, the only thing keeping me on windows was Macromedia and now this but you can run windows programs on linux.

Yeah. I know. I will test it with Wine and see if I can get it going there. Macromedia Fireworks was the program that kept me on Windows, but it looks like they have gotten it to run on Fedora now at least.

Looks cool. Since this post is a year old - is it working now, or still broken?

I do not understand why do you think this is a good tool. I rather use a web-based blog editor than add a client-software. On the other hand the whole world is moving towards web-based applications, because they are independent from the place of use. Despite these do you think such an application has a great future?

This application is great for those who want to edit posts on their PC then post to blog at a later date.

Of course I understand the aim of this tool, I only said that I think there is a quite narrow target audiance for this service. As I can see there are two ways of “living online”: The first kind of men (like me) carries his tools (laptop, palmtop, etc) as an office. The other way of online living is using web-based tools for everything.
Tools like W.Bloggar is made for the first type of men- just as e-banking services wich use client software. But a Client software has its obvious benefits in e-banking for example. The only question is whether a “blogging software” can use the benefits of a client-side application?

Perhaps the problem is, that I use 3G mobile internet connection, so I’m online anywhere:))
